About Sallie Mundy
Sallie was raised in rural Tioga County, the daughter of Ralph and Bonnie Updyke. Her dad was a lineman for the local power company for more than 30 years. He was also a volunteer firefighter serving as Chief of the Tioga Borough Volunteer Fire Company for 25 years. In their home, hard work, volunteerism, and integrity were ways of life. Sallie is proud of her blue-collar background. She believes her work ethic developed early in life will serve her well on Pennsylvania's busiest court. Sallie is currently a litigator for the firm of McEldrew and Fullam. She represents catastrophically injured victims. She is devoted to helping working class families attain the justice they deserve.
In addition to her private practice, she contributes her talents to the criminal justice system by serving as a volunteer public defender in Tioga County. Prior to joining her current law firm, Sallie was a defense attorney defending doctors and nurses accused of committing medical malpractice. Her practice was based in central and northeastern Pennsylvania working primarily on behalf of the Hershey Medical Center and Penn State University with the State College based firm of McQuaide Blasko. Sallie received her higher education in southwestern Pennsylvania. She graduated from Washington and Jefferson College located in Washington, Pennsylvania. She went on to obtain a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
Following law school, she served as a law clerk to Tioga County's President Judge, the Honorable Robert M Kemp. It was during her tenure with Judge Kemp, who served as a role model for her, that Sallie's dream of one day attaining judicial office began.
Sallie has been active in the Pennsylvania Bar Association serving as a member of the Association's governing body, the House of Delegates. She was also appointed to serve three terms as a Trustee of the Bar Association's Insurance Trust Fund.
The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania chose Sallie to serve two terms as a member of the Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Board. The IOLTA Board makes charitable donations to a variety of law related projects primarily directed to insuring equal access to justice for all citizens.
She has been active in her community serving as a member of the Tioga Little League Board and as Soup Labels for Education Coordinator. Sallie resides in Tioga County. She and her husband Jim, who is also a lawyer, have five children.
